   Meets the 1st Wednesday of the month, from 10:00 to 2:00 pm. The location of the Bee meetings may vary from month to month and will always be communicated in advance to Bee members via email. Any questions about location can be directed to Mary or Pam. Open to all levels of appliqué and handwork. Members enjoy different types of appliqué such as needle turn appliqué, prepared edge appliqué, wool applique and machine appliqué. Other members bring handwork such as hand piecing, hand quilting, English paper piecing, cross stitch, embroidery, and more. Bring your  lunch and  stitching. This bee is open to al members.   Community Service

  The group meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month at the Island Lutheran Church from 10 am until 2 pm. Membership can come for the entire day or stop by to drop off or pick up supplies. Workshop days include tasks ranging from sewing “sandwiches,” to pressing fabric, cutting fabric for kits, and pairing fabric with tops. So, there are plenty of opportunities to help that do not always mean dragging your sewing machine in!

  Lecture. AMERICAN QUILTS – 250+ YEARS OF CLOTH, COMFORT AND CREATIVITY

  Description:  As all of us know, quilts are an expression of art and comfort and love, and they tell the history, the stories and the cultures of the men and women who create them.  Quilts are displayed in museums all over the world, and anyone with basic sewing skills and an urge for self-expression can make a quilt.  

  Ronnie Liebowitz and Debra Hausrath are enthusiasts when it comes to the history of quilts, the stories they tell, and the women (and men) who made them.  Using PowerPoint slides and actual vintage and antique quilts from their collections, they will present a brief romp through the history of quilts in America from the late 18th century to today.  They will also touch on the development of patterns, machinery, fabric and methods if time allows.  

  They presented this class last winter for OLLI at the USCB Hilton Head campus and will giving it again at the Bluffton campus in February 2027.  You can enjoy it for free through PQG!

  Marty Moon will be presenting Historical Quilts at the workshop and how to make some of the traditional blocks.  This will be a good project to use some of your stash or shop for some of the “old” prints that is part of our quilt history.

  You will want to make a donation of $20 to the guild.  We will be meeting IN PERSON at Palmetto Electric New River.

  Time is 9 a to 3 p.  Bring your lunch, all sewing supplies such as machine, thread, cutting mat, rotary cutter, scissors, fabric, electrical cord, pressing mat and iron…..you know the drill.  It is a good idea to arrive early to get set up.
